AUG 18: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rajesh Sharma, paid a visit to the calamity-hit areas of Jakhole and Janglote to take stock of the on-ground situation and review the ongoing rescue and relief operations. Accompanied by officials from various line departments, the DC interacted with affected residents and assured them of all possible support from the district administration.
During the visit, Rajesh Sharma closely monitored the rescue efforts being carried out by disaster response teams and directed the concerned officials to expedite the process of evacuating stranded individuals and extending medical care to the injured. He also instructed the teams on the ground to ensure proper coordination among different agencies for smooth and efficient implementation of relief measures.
The DC personally met with families who have suffered loss and assured them that the administration is committed to providing immediate assistance and long-term support. “All necessary steps are being taken to mitigate the impact of this calamity. The district administration will leave no stone unturned to help the affected families in their hour of need,” he emphasised.
To strengthen disaster response and ensure uninterrupted monitoring, a 24×7 Emergency Operation Centre has been set up in Kathua. The centre will function as a dedicated control room to coordinate rescue efforts, collect real-time information from the field, and facilitate quick response to emergency situations.
