15 April: Rajouri Day was solemnly observed on April 13 with floral tributes and vibrant cultural programmes, commemorating the historic liberation of Rajouri in 1948. The event was jointly organised by the Indian Army and the civil administration at Gujjar Mandi Chowk and the Army’s Advance Landing Ground.
Rajouri Day marks a significant chapter in history when Indian forces entered the region on April 13, 1948, freeing it from occupying forces and restoring peace and stability. Among those present were General Officer Commanding 25 Division, Kaushik Mukherjee, Deputy Inspector General Rajouri-Poonch Range Sandeep Wazir, Senior Superintendent of Police Rajouri, and Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma.
A series of cultural programmes added colour to the solemn occasion, with local artists and students presenting patriotic songs, dances, and performances reflecting the spirit of unity and national pride. The programmes highlighted the rich cultural heritage of the region while paying homage to the courage of the armed forces.
