Jammu: The Ministry of Railways has extended the Sabarmati–Jammu Tawi Express to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, improving rail connectivity for pilgrims and passengers travelling from Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab to Jammu and Kashmir.
The extension is expected to make rail journeys more convenient for devotees visiting the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, one of the country’s prominent pilgrimage destinations. It will also benefit passengers travelling between the regions by providing additional connectivity to important locations in Jammu and Kashmir.
As part of the revised service, the train will have additional stoppages at Samba, Bari Brahmana and Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan railway stations. These stops are expected to improve accessibility for passengers from the surrounding areas and strengthen rail links across the Jammu region.
The extension to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra is significant for pilgrims who rely on railway services to reach the base camp for the shrine. Improved connectivity can help streamline travel planning and provide greater convenience to passengers arriving from western and northern parts of the country.
The Ministry of Railways has advised passengers to check the revised train schedule and timings before commencing their journeys. Updated information is available through the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) and the railway helpline 139.
The extension forms part of efforts to improve passenger connectivity and facilitate travel to important religious destinations. With the service reaching Katra, passengers will have an additional rail connectivity option for their journeys to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine and other destinations in the region.
