Samba admin gears up to host Chamliyal Mela

SAMBA, MAY 30: Deputy Commissioner Samba, Abhishek Sharma today chaired a meeting to review the preparations for the upcoming annual mela at Baba Chamliyal Shrine.

 

The highly anticipated mela is scheduled to take place on June 22, 2023, at the Baba Chamliyal shrine situated near the International border in Ramgarh sector.

 

During the meeting, the DC emphasized the need for well-planned arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the mela. The officials from the Roads and Buildings (R&B) department were directed to prioritize the blacktopping of all major roads leading to the shrine well in advance of the event. Additionally, repair and improvement works were advised to enhance the convenience of the devotees visiting the shrines. Uninterrupted water supply was also stressed upon.

 

To enhance the overall experience and safety of the attendees, the Power Development Department (PDD) was instructed to ensure proper lighting arrangements and uninterrupted power supply throughout the mela. The DC also emphasized the significance of maintaining proper sanitation at the shrine and requested the installation of an adequate number of dustbins in view of the large influx of devotees expected during the annual event.

 

The DC emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts by all concerned departments to ensure timely and efficient arrangements for the mela. Furthermore, the DC addressed the BSF authorities regarding the removal of bund near the shrine to facilitate the expansion of services. Security arrangements, as well as preparedness related to Fire and Emergency Services and traffic regulation, were also reviewed during the meeting.

 

To maintain smooth traffic flow and prevent road encroachment, the DC called for proper arrangements for setting up temporary shops near the roadside. It was stressed that the mela should be organized at a grand level, and all officials were urged to ensure its success.
