NOV 06: East Delhi, an initiative to nurture local sporting talent and encourage fitness among citizens, was inaugurated today by Shri Harsh Malhotra, Union Minister of State for Corporate Affairs and Road Transport & Highways, at the East Vinod Nagar Sports Complex. The event also saw the presence of Ravinder Singh Negi, MLA Patparganj, along with several dignitaries and sports officials.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Malhotra highlighted the importance of strengthening India’s sporting ecosystem from the grassroots level, aligning with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a Viksit Bharat. He praised the enthusiastic participation of young athletes, calling it a reflection of their energy and determination.
The Minister underlined that the Sansad Khel Mahotsav seeks not only to promote sports and physical fitness but also to discover and mentor emerging talent, providing them with pathways to district, state, and national-level competitions.
Quoting the “5 S’s of Sports” – Speed, Stamina, Skill, Strength, and Spirit, Shri Malhotra emphasized that Spirit remains the most vital quality. Referring to the Khelo Bharat Niti 2025, he said the policy aims to transform India’s sports landscape and empower every citizen through active participation.
The Mahotsav will host 11 sporting events, including athletics, kabaddi, kho-kho, volleyball, wrestling, and football, encouraging participation across age groups and genders. Concluding his address, Shri Malhotra urged schools, colleges, and local clubs to ensure wide participation and make the festival a grand success.
