Students and Faculty at GDC Ramgarh Reaffirm Commitment to Democratic Values on Ambedkar Jayanti

APRIL 11: The NSS Unit “Prabha” of Government Degree College (GDC), Ramgarh, solemnly observed the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution, by organizing a meaningful pledge ceremony. The event served as a tribute to Dr. Ambedkar’s lifelong dedication to justice, equality, and the empowerment of the marginalized.

The celebration was held under the overall guidance of the College Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Meeru Abrol, and coordinated by Prof. Brham Dutt, Programme Officer of the NSS Unit. The aim of the event was to pay homage to Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy and to encourage students and staff to internalize and uphold the constitutional values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity, which are central to the ethos of Indian democracy.

The event commenced with a solemn atmosphere as students and faculty members gathered to participate in the pledge ceremony, which emphasized the importance of preserving the democratic ideals laid down in the Constitution. The pledge focused on promoting unity, respect for human dignity, and the responsibility of every citizen in contributing to a harmonious and progressive society.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Meeru Abrol reflected on the enduring relevance of Dr. Ambedkar’s vision in the present-day context. She underlined his pivotal role in laying the foundation for a just, inclusive, and egalitarian India, and urged the students to go beyond celebrating his birth anniversary by actively embodying the spirit of his teachings in their daily lives. “It is not enough to understand our rights; we must also embrace our responsibilities in nation-building,” she said.

The event witnessed active participation from the teaching staff, including Dr. Snobar, Prof. Sandeep Kumari, Ashok Kumar, Dr. Shivali Panjgotra, Dr. Neeraj Bargotra, Dr. Susheel Kumar, Darpan Malhotra, Priya Sharma, Anjali Devi, and Sayema, alongside a large number of enthusiastic students.

The ceremony concluded with a collective pledge taken by all attendees, reaffirming their commitment to safeguard the Constitution, promote social harmony, and foster respect for democratic values. The event not only commemorated the legacy of a great leader but also served as a moment of introspection and inspiration for all present.
