AUG 23: The sacred city of Ujjain, home to the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga, is set to host “रूहmantic” – the 2nd Global Spiritual Tourism Conclave organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board. The conclave will take place on 27 August 2025, bringing together leaders from government, industry, and the spiritual community.

The event will be inaugurated by Dr. Mohan Yadav, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, as Chief Guest, alongside Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister of Tourism & Culture, as Guest of Honour. Adding a deeper spiritual perspective, Gauranga Das Prabhu, renowned spiritual leader, will deliver the keynote address.

Senior officials including Mr. Suman Billa (IAS), Additional Secretary & Director General, Ministry of Tourism, and Mr. Sheo Shekhar Shukla (IAS), Principal Secretary – Tourism, Government of Madhya Pradesh, will address the gathering. A major highlight of the event will be the launch of the PHDCCI–KPMG report titled “Faith & Flow: Navigating Crowds in India’s Sacred Spaces”, offering insights into managing India’s growing spiritual tourism sector.

The conclave will feature a Government–Industry Roundtable chaired by the Chief Minister, focusing on strengthening infrastructure, sustainable hospitality, and cultural promotion.

Thematic sessions will cover diverse aspects of spiritual tourism:

  • Temple Economies: Where Faith Meets Livelihood – the role of temple circuits in supporting local communities.

  • Mahakal’s Mandala: Ujjain’s Spiritual Power & Urban Future – balancing heritage with urban development.

  • Mind, Body & Soul: Wellness as the New Spiritual Frontier – integrating Ayurveda, yoga, and holistic healing.

  • Divine in the Digital – Spirituality 2.0 – technology’s impact on access to spirituality.

  • Guardians of the Sacred Axis – The Jyotirlinga Circuit – preserving the cultural legacy of the 12 Jyotirlingas.

Delegates will also experience the city’s spiritual depth with guided visits to Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple and Kal Bhairav Temple.
