Union Ayush Minister Reviews Global Preparations for International Day of Yoga 2025

MAY 08: Union Minister of Ayush and Health & Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, chaired a high-level review meeting in New Delhi to assess ongoing preparations for the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025, to be celebrated globally on June 21, 2025.

Addressing senior officials of the Ministry of Ayush, Shri Jadhav reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to making IDY 2025 not just a ceremonial event but an inspiring global movement. “We will work with sincerity to ensure this year’s Yoga Day becomes a source of inspiration for the entire world,” he stated.

The Minister urged all stakeholders to align their efforts with the guiding theme ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’, emphasizing a unified message of holistic well-being and sustainability. He highlighted the importance of reaching every section of society—locally and globally—through collaborative action.

Key initiatives under review included:

  • Yoga Sangam: Integrating yoga with schools, hospitals, and workplaces

  • Harit Yoga: Promoting environmental awareness through yoga-driven plantation campaigns

  • Yoga Connect: Engaging global Indian diaspora and international participants

  • Yoga Bandhan: Encouraging community participation for social unity and wellness

Special focus was placed on mobilizing youth, educational institutions, and community leaders to maximize participation and impact.

Since its UN proclamation in 2015 at the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, International Day of Yoga has evolved into a worldwide celebration of health, peace, and harmony, with India leading the charge in promoting yoga as a global heritage.
