Union Minister J. P. Nadda Highlights MedTech Sector’s Role in Realizing Viksit Bharat 2047 Vision at APACMed Forum

Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilizers, Shri J. P. Nadda, addressed the 11th Asia Pacific MedTech Forum (APACMed 2025) via video message, emphasizing the sector’s pivotal role in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

Calling the MedTech sector a cornerstone of India’s healthcare transformation, the Minister underscored its growing importance in delivering accessible, affordable, and innovation-driven healthcare solutions. He highlighted India’s emergence as both a high-volume manufacturer and increasingly a high-value player in the global MedTech landscape.

Shri Nadda laid out the four thematic pillars of the Forum:

  1. Unlocking India for global MedTech leadership

  2. Innovation without limits – from better to breakthrough

  3. MedTech for all – delivering value and impact

  4. Scaling up – investing in India’s MedTech future

He affirmed that these themes reflect a shared commitment to inclusive, sustainable, and globally competitive healthcare innovation.

Union Minister of State Smt. Anupriya Patel also addressed the gathering, spotlighting major initiatives to strengthen India’s MedTech ecosystem, including:

  • 100% FDI in medical devices

  • National Medical Devices Promotion Council

  • Component manufacturing support

  • Common infrastructure development

  • Clinical and market research incentives

Dr. Vinod K. Paul, Member (Health), NITI Aayog, detailed transformative policies like the National Medical Devices Policy 2023, PLI scheme, and the PRIP (BRICS) initiative to foster R&D, affordability, and domestic production.

Organized by APACMed, the two-day Forum under the theme “Swastha Bharat – A Healthier India, Together”, brought together stakeholders from 10+ countries to align strategies with India’s Healthcare Vision 2030.
