KISHTWAR, MARCH 16: Government Degree College Kishtwar organised an awareness program on the eve of “World Consumer Rights Day” under the patronship of Dr. Jyoti Parihar, Principal GDC Kishtwar.
The purpose of the program was to make students aware about consumer rights, responsibilities and remedial measures available to them.
The key speaker of the program, Sajad Hussain, Food Safety Officer, highlighted various issues ranging from buying any product to filling complaints.
He said that before buying anything a person must check the personal hygiene/hygiene of that area and product information such as date of manufacturing, batch number, Best before, FSSAI.
Thereafter a consumer should ask for the proper bill containing full address of the seller, GST number etc. He further talked about fortified foods that are rice, flour, milk, oil and salt.
Economics Department of GDC Kishtwar also celebrated World Consumer Rights Day, 2023 by organising a poster making competition on the topic “Empowering consumers through clean energy transition”.
