APRIL 20: The 7th Edition of Rashtriya Poshan Pakhwada was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Satwari, organized by the Office of the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) under the Poshan Project. The event focused on raising awareness about nutrition, health, hygiene, and lifestyle modifications, benefiting a wide range of participants, including children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers.
The Mission Director of Mission Poshan J&K, Kishori Lal Sharma, graced the event as the Chief Guest, while the District Programme Officer Poshan Jammu, Pankaj Anand, attended as the Guest of Honour. The event was also attended by staff members from the CDPO office, Anganwadi workers and helpers, and beneficiaries from various segments of the project.
The primary objective of the event was to promote the core themes of Rashtriya Poshan Pakhwada 2025, focusing on key areas such as the First 1000 days of life, Malnutrition Management through CMAM (Community-based Management of Acute Malnutrition), promoting a healthy lifestyle, and addressing issues like obesity in children. Participants were provided with essential insights on the importance of right nutrition, maintaining proper hygiene, and adopting lifestyle changes for the overall wellbeing of individuals and families.
The event also emphasized the significance of the Poshan Tracker and encouraged participants to utilize various schemes offered by Mission Poshan. The officials urged the attendees to enroll in Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) for maximum benefit and to adopt sustainable food habits for long-term health improvements. As a token of appreciation, the children were given stationery kits, while baby care kits were distributed to lactating mothers.
The celebration was enhanced with a cultural program, where field functionaries of the Poshan Project Satwari performed theme-based group songs and skits. Child beneficiaries also contributed by presenting stage activities, poems, and showcasing paintings and drawings related to the themes of the event. Various thematic posters and charts along with ECCE (Early Childhood Care and Education) materials were displayed to further promote the event’s goals.
During his address, Kishori Lal Sharma highlighted the crucial role of Poshan (right nutrition), the importance of growth monitoring, anemia testing, and the need for environmental sustainability in improving public health. He also stressed the significance of Health and Nutrition Education in shaping healthier communities.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Tanvi Gupta, Child Development Project Officer, Poshan Project Satwari.
