APRIL 20: The Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, emphasized the crucial role of youth empowerment and innovative thinking in shaping a developed India (Viksit Bharat) during his address at the 20th Foundation Day celebration of Sreeram Academy, Pathsala. Speaking as the Chief Guest at the commemorative event, Shri Sonowal called upon students to think beyond textbooks and embrace creativity, innovation, and critical thinking as tools for national progress.

Addressing a packed audience comprising students, faculty, alumni, parents, and local dignitaries, Shri Sonowal said, “Yuva Shakti, empowered by knowledge, is the driving force behind our journey toward a developed and self-reliant India. Our students must cultivate new ideas and innovate fearlessly to contribute meaningfully to society.”

He also praised the Government of India’s transformative initiatives such as Digital India, Make in India, and Skill India, describing them as powerful platforms for the youth to realize their full potential. “These programs are designed to equip the younger generation with the tools and skills they need to lead in the 21st century,” the Minister noted.

Reiterating the timeless value of education, Shri Sonowal remarked, “Knowledge is power—acquiring it is essential, but applying it for the betterment of society is even more important.” He also highlighted the need for value-based education and encouraged parents to raise their children with strong moral foundations. “We must ensure that our children not only excel academically but also grow up to be responsible, ethical citizens,” he added.

Emphasizing holistic development, Shri Sonowal urged the integration of Yoga and wellness practices into daily life. “Yoga is not merely a physical regimen; it is a holistic lifestyle that nurtures the body and mind. It enhances focus, balance, and inner strength,” he said.

The celebration included vibrant cultural performances by the students, featuring traditional dance, music, and drama, which captivated the audience and reflected the school’s commitment to nurturing creativity alongside academics.

Distinguished guests at the event included Shri Phanidhar Talukdar, MLA of Bhawanipur Constituency; Shri Dhanpati Deka, Vice-Chancellor of Bhattadev University; Dr. Kakali Das, Principal of Sreeram Academy; and other eminent personalities from the education and administrative sectors.
