APRIL 27: In the aftermath of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir’s Minister for Agriculture Production, Javed Ahmad Dar, called on the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, to discuss the safety and welfare of Kashmiri students, businessmen, and workers residing in the state.
The meeting was conducted as part of a larger initiative directed by the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, under which all J&K Cabinet Ministers have been assigned to different parts of the country to ensure the well-being of their citizens outside the Union Territory.
During his discussion with Chief Minister Sukhu, Minister Dar highlighted the growing concerns among Kashmiri families following the Pahalgam attack and stressed the urgent need to maintain a secure environment for J&K residents currently in Himachal Pradesh. He specifically requested the Chief Minister’s personal intervention to guarantee the protection and welfare of Kashmiri students pursuing their education, as well as businessmen and workers contributing to the state’s economy.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu responded with a strong message of reassurance. He emphasized that Himachal Pradesh has always been a peace-loving state that upholds the principles of brotherhood and communal harmony. Expressing deep sorrow over the tragic incident, he condemned the terror attack and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims.
The Himachal Chief Minister assured Minister Dar that the state government had already taken proactive steps to ensure the security of all Jammu and Kashmir residents. He informed that instructions have been issued to all concerned departments and law enforcement agencies to stay vigilant and address any issues faced by Kashmiri citizens promptly.
Minister Javed Ahmad Dar expressed his gratitude to the Himachal Pradesh Government for its swift and supportive response during these challenging times. He appreciated the spirit of unity and solidarity demonstrated by the people and administration of Himachal Pradesh.
Later, while meeting delegations of Kashmiri students and community members in Shimla, Minister Dar reiterated the commitment of the Omar Abdullah-led J&K Government towards the safety and welfare of its people across the nation. He also urged the community to stay connected with government helplines and not hesitate to seek assistance when needed.
