MAY 06: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, chaired a high-level meeting to assess the preparedness and review the comprehensive development plan aimed at enhancing civic amenities along the route of the upcoming Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2025 in Jammu Division.
The meeting was attended by key officials including the Managing Director of JPDCL, Commissioner of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), and Deputy Commissioners of the districts Kathua, Samba, Jammu, Udhampur, Reasi, and Ramban. Representatives from departments such as Tourism, Rural Development Department (RDD), Public Works Department (PWD), Health, and Jal Shakti also participated in the deliberations.
During the session, the Divisional Commissioner stressed the importance of early execution of all approved works. He instructed concerned departments and district administrations to float tenders immediately to ensure there are no delays in project initiation.
The plan includes district-wise infrastructure development such as repair and augmentation of essential services like electricity, water supply, sanitation, and toilet facilities at all key lodgement centres. Special attention is being given to prominent Yatra points such as Lakhanpur in Kathua, Bhagwati Nagar in Jammu, and Chanderkote in Ramban.
The MD of JPDCL was directed to expedite works related to stable power supply and illumination at all designated Yatra sites. Meanwhile, the Commissioner of JMC and Deputy Commissioner Jammu were instructed to prioritize tendering for civil and sanitation works at the Bhagwati Nagar Yatra camp.
The RDD and JMC informed the Div Com that tenders for mobile toilets, sanitation facilities, and manpower hiring are in the pipeline. The Health Department was tasked with ensuring timely stocking of medicines and the deployment of ambulances at Yatra camps and lodgement centres.
Additionally, the PWD was entrusted with installing waterproof hangers and temporary shelters to provide comfort to the pilgrims, especially at Bhagwati Nagar.
Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar concluded the meeting by urging Deputy Commissioners to closely monitor the ongoing works to ensure quality execution and completion well ahead of the Yatra schedule.
