june 09: In a significant boost to India’s infrastructure and manufacturing sectors, the Technology Development Board (TDB) under the Department of Science and Technology (DST) has sanctioned financial support to Hyderabad-based M/s Autocracy Machinery Pvt. Ltd. The funding will assist in the commercialization of an advanced, indigenous trenching technology developed by the company.
The project, titled “Commercialization of the State-of-the-Art Trencher Technology,” is expected to play a transformative role in upgrading India’s underground infrastructure. By focusing on terrain-optimized trenching equipment designed specifically for Indian conditions, the initiative promises to reduce reliance on imported machinery and enhance the country’s capacity for self-reliant and sustainable infrastructure development.
Highlighting the strategic importance of this initiative, the Secretary of TDB remarked, “TDB empowers future-ready infrastructure through home-grown trenching innovation by M/s Autocracy Machinery.” The move is aligned with the national vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, aimed at strengthening indigenous technological capabilities across critical sectors.
The trenching technology developed by Autocracy Machinery is designed to meet the growing needs of urban and rural development projects involving underground utility installations such as cables, water pipelines, gas lines, and fiber optics. Traditional trenching methods, which are often labor-intensive and less efficient, could be replaced by this more advanced and mechanized solution—leading to faster, safer, and more cost-effective project execution.
By supporting this venture, TDB not only catalyzes the growth of a domestic machinery manufacturing ecosystem but also contributes to innovation-driven industrialization. The financial assistance will help accelerate product scaling, market outreach, and technology refinement to ensure reliability in varied geographies across the country.
The collaboration exemplifies how government support through science and technology initiatives can drive local innovation and promote globally competitive products from Indian manufacturers. It reinforces the government’s continued commitment to technological advancement, infrastructure modernization, and the creation of skilled employment opportunities.
As India strides toward its long-term vision of becoming a global economic powerhouse, the backing of indigenous technologies like these signifies a key step in realizing sustainable, future-ready infrastructure.
