JUNE 22: The West Bengal Foundation Day was celebrated with great reverence and patriotic spirit at the historic Raj Bhawan. The event was inaugurated with floral tributes to the countless freedom fighters, reformers, and visionaries from the state who played a transformative role in shaping India’s political, intellectual, and spiritual journey.
Dignitaries, officials, and invited guests gathered to honour the profound legacy of Bengal—often referred to as the cradle of the Indian renaissance. The ceremony began with a solemn remembrance of icons such as Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Rabindranath Tagore, Swami Vivekananda, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, and others whose contributions have left an indelible mark on the nation’s history.
Addressing the gathering, the chief guest highlighted West Bengal’s pivotal role in India’s freedom movement and its unmatched contributions to literature, education, science, philosophy, and art. “This blessed land has consistently given rise to thinkers and leaders who have lit the path forward for the country,” the speaker said.
As part of the Foundation Day observance, cultural performances, poetry recitations, and exhibitions showcasing Bengal’s heritage were also organized. The celebration not only paid homage to the past but also looked ahead with hope and ambition.
In his message, the dignitary expressed warm wishes for the people of West Bengal, stating, “May the state continue to scale new heights of progress and prosperity in the years to come. Its vibrant culture, resilience, and intellect remain a source of strength for our nation.”
The event served as a unifying moment for all present, emphasizing the timeless values of unity, courage, creativity, and spiritual depth that define the identity of Bengal. The Raj Bhawan, with its historic grandeur, provided a fitting backdrop for the celebration of a state whose contributions continue to shape modern India.
The program concluded with the singing of the national anthem and renewed calls for collective effort in preserving the spirit of Bengal’s legacy while driving forward development for future generations.
