JUNE 22: In a breathtaking celebration of wellness, heritage, and national pride, the Reasi Administration hosted a historic yoga session atop the world’s highest railway bridge — the Chenab Rail Bridge — as part of the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY 2025).
Set against the majestic backdrop of the Pir Panjal mountain range and soaring 359 meters above the Chenab River, the session blended the timeless serenity of yoga with the awe-inspiring scale of modern engineering. The event showcased not only India’s commitment to health and well-being but also its capability to integrate tradition with technology.
Officials from the Ministry of Railways, Ministry of AYUSH, and local administration were present, along with railway staff, yoga practitioners, and dignitaries. The session was guided by certified instructors, with participants performing asanas under the open sky, celebrating the IDY 2025 theme: “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.”
Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw, along with representatives from @RailMinIndia, @moayush, and @MIB_India, praised the initiative, calling it a symbol of India’s rising global influence in wellness tourism and sustainable development. The presence of yoga atop a globally recognized infrastructure marvel reflected India’s unity in diversity — blending ancient practices with cutting-edge achievements.
District officials said the event also aimed to promote the region as a wellness and adventure tourism destination, with the Chenab Bridge standing as a beacon of India’s engineering excellence and spirit of innovation.
The yoga session atop the Chenab Bridge drew attention across social media, with visuals going viral under hashtags like #IDY2025 and #ChenabRailBridge. Participants described the experience as “once-in-a-lifetime,” combining tranquility with thrilling elevation.
This iconic event not only celebrated yoga but also reaffirmed India’s message of peace, unity, and harmony — from the Himalayan heights to the hearts of millions.
