AUG 22: Mahant Rohit Shastri, President of Shri Kailakh Jyotish and Vedic Sansthan Trust, called on Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today and discussed several important cultural and social initiatives.
During the meeting, Mahant Shastri presented a Sanskrit nameplate bearing the Lieutenant Governor’s name, symbolizing the Trust’s ongoing campaign, “Ghar-Ghar Sanskrit Abhiyan” (Sanskrit for Every Home). Under this initiative, Sanskrit nameplates are being installed at public places, residences, and offices of eminent personalities to encourage the use of the ancient language in everyday life.
Mahant Shastri briefed the Lieutenant Governor on the broader objectives of the campaign, emphasizing that Sanskrit is not only a sacred language but also an integral part of India’s cultural and civilizational heritage. He noted that increased public usage will play a crucial role in reviving and preserving the language for future generations.
Apart from cultural promotion, Mahant Shastri also highlighted an important public safety concern. He called for the formulation of a pre-monsoon policy for mountain pilgrimages in Jammu and Kashmir. Stressing that unpredictable weather conditions often put the lives of pilgrims at risk, he suggested that a structured policy with clear guidelines, safety measures, and timely advisories could help ensure the well-being of devotees undertaking pilgrimages in hilly regions.
The Lieutenant Governor appreciated the efforts of Mahant Rohit Shastri and the Trust in promoting Sanskrit and contributing to cultural enrichment. He assured that the administration remains committed to safeguarding both the spiritual heritage and the safety of pilgrims visiting the region.
The meeting reflected a blend of cultural advocacy and social responsibility, underlining the importance of language preservation and pilgrim welfare in Jammu and Kashmir’s broader developmental framework.
