AUG 24: Secretary of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (RDD & PR), Aijaz Asad, inspected the ongoing construction of the much-awaited Yatri Niwas at Mata Kheer Bhawani Temple in Tulmulla, Ganderbal. The project, which aims to enhance facilities for visiting pilgrims, is being taken up on priority to ensure devotees are provided with better amenities during their spiritual visits.
During his visit, the Secretary reviewed the pace of work and directed the concerned officials and executing agencies to strictly adhere to both timelines and quality standards. He emphasized that the Yatri Niwas should be completed within the stipulated schedule so that it can be made functional at the earliest.
Highlighting the importance of the project, Aijaz Asad said that providing adequate accommodation and facilities for pilgrims has been a long-standing demand, and its completion will not only ease the stay of devotees but also contribute to the overall development of Tulmulla and adjoining areas.
He instructed officers to promptly address any bottlenecks that may arise during execution to avoid unnecessary delays. Stressing the significance of quality construction, he noted that the Yatri Niwas should serve pilgrims for decades, reflecting the government’s vision of sustainable and people-centric development.
The inspection visit underscores the administration’s resolve to upgrade religious and cultural infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir, while also boosting local economies through improved facilities for visitors.
Officials accompanying the Secretary assured that the work is progressing at a steady pace and that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure smooth completion. The project, once finished, is expected to significantly improve the pilgrim experience at the revered Kheer Bhawani shrine.
