Sep 07: The Reasi District Administration has sanctioned ₹90 lakh for immediate relief disbursement among people affected by recent rains and floods. Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Nidhi Malik, reviewed the ongoing restoration works and directed concerned officials to expedite assistance to the affected households.
During the review meeting, the DC instructed Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) to fast-track the verification and processing of relief cases so that compensation reaches beneficiaries without unnecessary delay. She further emphasized the importance of transparent and efficient disbursement mechanisms to ensure timely support for vulnerable families.
On the infrastructure front, Malik directed Executive Engineers (XENs) of key departments to ensure round-the-clock restoration of damaged roads, power supply, and essential services. The DC underscored the need for close coordination among field agencies to minimize public inconvenience and restore normalcy at the earliest.
The administration has also put in place a monitoring mechanism to track the progress of relief distribution and infrastructure restoration. With funds now released, officials have been tasked with accelerating on-ground action in the most severely affected areas.
Reasi district has been among the worst hit by the recent heavy rains, which triggered flash floods, road blockades, and damage to public utilities. The government’s prompt financial support aims to provide immediate succor while longer-term rehabilitation measures are being chalked out.
The DC reaffirmed that the district administration is fully committed to safeguarding the lives and livelihoods of all affected communities.
