Divisional Commissioner (DC) Kashmir, Anshul Garg, on Thursday conducted a comprehensive inspection of preparations for the Republic Day 2026 celebrations at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar, one of the main venues for the Union Territory’s official समारोह. The visit aimed to ensure that all arrangements are completed well in advance and executed in a smooth, secure, and dignified manner on the national occasion.

During the inspection, the Divisional Commissioner reviewed the status of infrastructure readiness, seating arrangements, stage setup, parade ground preparations, and overall venue management. He directed all concerned departments to work in close coordination to ensure glitch-free execution of the celebrations, with special emphasis on contingency planning and weather preparedness, given the winter conditions in the Valley.

DC Anshul Garg stressed that Republic Day is a moment of national pride and collective celebration, and therefore every detail must reflect efficiency, discipline, and respect for the occasion. He instructed officials to maintain high standards of cleanliness, decoration, lighting, sound systems, and public convenience facilities at the venue. Adequate arrangements for power supply, heating where required, medical facilities, emergency services, and crowd management were also discussed during the review.

Security arrangements formed a key part of the inspection, with directions issued to ensure proper access control, frisking points, surveillance mechanisms, and coordinated deployment of security personnel. The Divisional Commissioner underlined the importance of ensuring the safety and comfort of participants, invitees, school children, and members of the general public attending the celebrations.

Highlighting the participatory spirit of the national festival, DC Garg extended an open invitation to the people of Srinagar and surrounding areas to attend the Republic Day समारोह at Bakshi Stadium. He encouraged citizens to actively participate and celebrate the occasion, which symbolises unity, constitutional values, and democratic strength of the nation.

The Divisional Commissioner also called upon all line departments to remain alert, responsive, and proactive in addressing any last-minute requirements. He emphasised that effective inter-departmental coordination and timely execution on the ground are essential to ensuring a successful and memorable Republic Day celebration in Srinagar.

The inspection reflects the administration’s commitment to organising Republic Day 2026 in a manner that is inclusive, secure, and befitting the significance of the occasion, while fostering a sense of national pride and community participation across the Kashmir Valley.
