Jan 29: RAJOURI: The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Jammu today organised a media workshop titled ‘Vartalap’ at Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), Rajouri, to showcase the key developmental initiatives of the Government of India, with special emphasis on the Vibrant Villages Programme and Tribal Welfare Schemes.
The workshop aimed to strengthen awareness and understanding among media professionals, students and stakeholders about flagship government programmes and their tangible impact at the grassroots level. Particular focus was laid on the achievements and progress made in the district of Rajouri under these initiatives.
During the interaction, speakers highlighted how the Vibrant Villages Programme is transforming border and remote villages by improving infrastructure, connectivity, livelihood opportunities and access to essential services. The programme, officials noted, is playing a crucial role in ensuring inclusive development, reducing regional disparities and enhancing the quality of life in far-flung areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
The session also shed light on various Tribal Welfare Schemes being implemented by the Government of India to empower Scheduled Tribes through education, healthcare, livelihood support and social security. Emphasis was laid on initiatives aimed at promoting socio-economic upliftment, preserving tribal culture and traditions, and ensuring equitable access to government benefits for tribal communities in Rajouri district.
Officials from PIB Jammu elaborated on the outcomes of these schemes, citing improvements in basic amenities, skill development, self-employment opportunities and educational outreach in tribal-dominated regions. They stressed the importance of effective communication in ensuring that the intended beneficiaries are well informed about government programmes and can fully utilise the benefits.
The Vartalap workshop also provided a platform for interactive discussions, enabling participants to seek clarifications, share feedback and discuss the role of media in disseminating authentic and factual information about development initiatives. The importance of responsible journalism and accurate reporting in countering misinformation and amplifying success stories from grassroots areas was underscored.
Faculty members and students of BGSBU appreciated the initiative, noting that such engagements help bridge the gap between policy implementation and public awareness. They said the workshop enhanced their understanding of national development programmes and their relevance to local contexts.
The event concluded with a reaffirmation of PIB’s commitment to fostering informed dialogue, strengthening media engagement and promoting greater public awareness about the Government of India’s developmental vision, particularly in the border and tribal areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
