JAMMU, July 19: Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet Minister Satish Sharma on Friday flagged off the ‘Ride with Pride 3.0 – Veergatha: Katha Amar Balidaniyon Ki’, an all-women motorbike expedition organised by the Shakti Udghosh Foundation to commemorate Kargil Vijay Diwas and honour the sacrifices of India’s brave soldiers.
The expedition was flagged off from Balidan Stambh, Jammu, in the presence of MLA Nagrota Devyani Rana, women riders, foundation members, volunteers, and other dignitaries. The journey will pass through Billawar, Bani, and Bhaderwah before concluding in Jammu.
Speaking at the event, Satish Sharma congratulated the organisers and participants for undertaking an initiative that combines adventure with a tribute to the nation’s martyrs. He said the expedition reflects the courage, determination, and patriotic spirit of women while preserving the legacy of India’s armed forces.
The Minister noted that the participants would interact with the families of martyrs and visit significant locations associated with the nation’s heroes. He said such initiatives help strengthen the emotional bond between citizens and the families of soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the country.
Highlighting the role of sports and adventure activities in youth development, Sharma said the Jammu and Kashmir Government is committed to creating greater opportunities for young people, especially women, to participate in leadership, fitness, and adventure-based programmes. He added that such initiatives promote confidence, discipline, teamwork, and national integration.
MLA Devyani Rana also appreciated the efforts of the Shakti Udghosh Foundation, describing the expedition as an inspiring initiative that encourages women’s participation in adventure sports while promoting patriotism and social responsibility. She expressed confidence that the journey would motivate more women to take up leadership roles in different fields.
The organisers informed that the expedition has been designed as a tribute to the nation’s fallen heroes rather than a recreational ride. Participants will observe discipline throughout the journey while spreading messages of courage, sacrifice, women empowerment, and national unity.
Later in the day, Satish Sharma attended the release of a musical video organised by Aakarshit Films Organic at the Writers’ Club, Abhinav Theatre, Jammu. The event was attended by filmmakers, artists, musicians, and members of the creative fraternity.
Releasing the music video, the Minister highlighted the importance of music, films, and creative arts in preserving the cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir. He said artistic platforms provide valuable opportunities for young talent while promoting the region’s rich traditions and cultural identity.
Sharma reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting initiatives related to art, culture, technology, and innovation. He said encouraging creativity among youth not only strengthens cultural values but also contributes to employment generation and the overall development of the creative economy.
The twin events reflected the government’s emphasis on promoting patriotism, women empowerment, youth participation, and cultural preservation through meaningful public initiatives.
