Zurich, August 28, 2026: Sri Lankan javelin thrower Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage produced another remarkable performance at the Zurich Diamond League, winning the competition with a massive 92.07-metre throw on August 27.
The 23-year-old maintained his impressive consistency throughout the event before delivering his biggest effort in the final round. Pathirage opened with 88.23m and followed it with 89.90m, setting the tone for what would become another dominant Diamond League performance.
His 92.07m effort not only secured the Zurich title but also extended his winning streak to four consecutive victories. The result further strengthened his position at the top of the season standings and secured his place in the Diamond League final.
Pathirage Delivers When It Matters Most
Pathirage’s victory once again highlighted his ability to produce his best throw under pressure. After already establishing himself among the leaders with two throws close to 90 metres, he saved his biggest effort for the decisive stage of the competition.

Grenada’s Anderson Peters finished second with an impressive 86.93m, while Poland’s Dawid Wegner secured third place after recording 85.16m.
