Jammu, October 2, 2026: Lieutenant General Mohit Seth, SM, VSM, has assumed command of the White Knight Corps (XVI Corps) at Nagrota, succeeding Lieutenant General P K Mishra, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, SM.
The change of command took place on October 1, with Lt Gen Seth taking charge of the Army formation responsible for the Jammu region. The White Knight Corps confirmed the leadership transition in a post on social media.
Lt Gen Seth Emphasises Readiness and Team Spirit
After assuming command, Lt Gen Seth called upon all ranks to maintain the highest standards of operational readiness, professional excellence and team spirit.
He also stressed the importance of continuing efforts aimed at promoting peace, security and stability in the region. The emphasis comes as the formation continues to carry out its operational responsibilities across the Jammu area.
The White Knight Corps also reiterated its message of preparedness with the statement: “Prepared For Today, Ready For Tomorrow. We Serve, We Protect.”
Experience in Jammu and Kashmir and Bhutan
Lt Gen Mohit Seth is an Infantry officer with experience in a range of command and staff assignments. Before taking over the White Knight Corps, he served as Commandant of the Indian Military Training Team (IMTRAT) in Bhutan.
He has also previously served in Jammu and Kashmir, including as the General Officer Commanding of the Army’s Kilo Force, giving him experience of the operational environment in the region. Reports said he was commissioned into the 3 Madras Regiment in 1991 and is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and National Defence College.
White Knight Corps’ Role in Jammu Region
The White Knight Corps, also known as XVI Corps, is headquartered at Nagrota in Jammu. Its operational area includes the Jammu region and areas along the Line of Control and the hinterland.
The formation has a significant role in maintaining operational preparedness in the region and coordinating the activities of formations and units under its command.
The White Knight Corps was raised on June 1, 1972, with Lieutenant General J. F. R. Jacob as its first General Officer Commanding.
Lt Gen P K Mishra Moves to New Assignment
Lt Gen Mohit Seth has succeeded Lt Gen P K Mishra, who has moved to a new staff appointment. Lt Gen Mishra had served as the commander of the White Knight Corps before the latest leadership transition.
The change of command marks another leadership transition within the Army’s formations in Jammu and Kashmir, with the new Corps Commander outlining operational preparedness, professionalism and collective responsibility as key priorities.
