New Delhi, October 22, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held bilateral talks with his Polish counterpart, Donald Tusk, in New Delhi on Thursday, with discussions focused on strengthening India-Poland relations and expanding cooperation across strategic, economic and technological sectors.
The meeting forms a key part of Tusk’s official visit to India from October 21 to 23. Both leaders reviewed the broader scope of bilateral relations and discussed regional and international developments of mutual interest.
The discussions come as India and Poland seek to translate their Strategic Partnership into tangible outcomes in areas such as defence, trade, investment, emerging technologies, renewable energy and industrial collaboration.
Defence, Technology and Economic Cooperation in Focus
Defence cooperation and industrial partnerships remain important areas of engagement between the two countries. Poland has expressed interest in working with India’s defence industry, while India continues to explore opportunities to expand domestic manufacturing and diversify international partnerships.
Cooperation in emerging technologies, space, renewable energy and other advanced sectors is also expected to contribute to the next phase of bilateral engagement.
Economic ties are another significant component of the relationship. Both countries are looking to encourage business partnerships, increase investment opportunities and create stronger links between their industries.
India-Poland Business Forums in New Delhi and Bengaluru
As part of the Polish Prime Minister’s visit, India-Poland Business Forums are scheduled in New Delhi on October 22 and Bengaluru on October 23. These engagements are expected to bring together business representatives and stakeholders to explore opportunities for collaboration.
Tusk is also scheduled to visit Bengaluru, where he will interact with business representatives, including those from the information technology and space sectors. He is accompanied by Poland’s Minister of Finance and Economy, Andrzej Domanski, along with a business delegation.
The business engagements are intended to complement the political discussions by encouraging commercial partnerships and identifying areas where companies from both countries can work together.
Strategic Partnership Built on Longstanding Ties
India and Poland elevated their bilateral relationship to a Strategic Partnership during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Poland in August 2024. The partnership established a framework for closer cooperation across several fields, including trade, security, technology, education and cultural exchange.
The current visit provides an opportunity to review progress and identify practical steps to advance the relationship. It also carries significance for broader India-European Union engagement, particularly in trade, investment and technological cooperation.
Through sustained diplomatic dialogue and business engagement, India and Poland are seeking to strengthen their partnership and expand cooperation in areas of shared interest.
The talks in New Delhi underline the importance both countries attach to maintaining regular high-level engagement and building a wider foundation for economic and strategic cooperation.
