KISHTWAR, DECEMBER 25: The two day District level Taekwondo Championship concluded today here at Al Hilal Educational Institute.
The Championship was held under the emblem of “My Youth My Pride” and was Supervised by Danish Manzoor (International Taekwondo Athlete/ Fit India Ambassador), who was appointed as Observer by J&K Taekwondo Association.
The championship was organised by District Kishtwar Taekwondo Association under the aegis of J&K Taekwondo Association (JKTA). The competition comprised all age divisions with inclusion of the youngest age division (Pee Wee).
The final day witnessed a massive combative skill show between the Senior and Junior Athletes in both male and female categories, wherein over 100 players participated in different weight categories out of them 30 Orphan athletes were sponsored by J&K Taekwondo Association.
The Championship was closed with the demonstration of Taekwondo fights by young Boys and Girls of different Clubs.
The Chief Guest of the closing ceremony was Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Devansh Yadav accompanied by Javid Iqbal Kripak (Chairman, Al-Hilal EI/ Bait-ul- Hilal Children’s Home Kishtwar) as Guest of honour.
He was received by Arslan Ahmad (Secretary, District Kishtwar Taekwondo Association).
Speaking on the occasion, he congratulated all medalists and participants for taking part in the said championship and also ensured full support to the District Taekwondo Association for uplifting the Taekwondo sport in the District. He along with the other dignitaries distributed medals among all medalists and mementos of honour were also given to Coaches/ Referees.
Special Guests on the occasion were Shahnawaz Mir (Vice President DKTA), Arjumand Nazir (Branch Head J&K Bank), Shafia Kousar (Govt. Teacher), Gh Mohammad Malik Gen. Sec. J&K Yateem foundation and Asger Hussain Ishrat, senior member of J&K YF Kishtwar.
All the Gold Medalists will represent District Kishtwar in the forthcoming J&K UT Championship.
