AYUSH organises Vaishakh Aarogya Utsav in GCOE Jammu

JAMMU, APRIL 11: Government College of Education, Jammu in collaboration with the Directorate of AYUSH, J&K today organised a 2-day Vaishakh Arogya Utsav to mark Baisakhi celebration.

 

Dr Mohan Singh, Director AYUSH convened the program to promote Indian Traditional Knowledge System through educational institutions.

 

Prof. Aekta Gupta, Principal, GCOE Jammu inaugurated the two day program in the college campus. Dr. Zubair Kales, Dean, School of Education was the Guest of honor on the occasion.

 

Dr. Shivani Padha, Dr. Gagandeep Kour and Dr. Arun Gupta Medical Officer, Government Ayurvedic Hospital, Jammu and other Doctors from Government Ayurvedic Hospital, Jammu visited the college. A free AYUSH awareness and health checkup camp and Prakriti Parikshan was organised for the students and faculty of the college.

 

The experts from the department of Ayush emphasized on the health benefits of millets and they also told the audience about the variety of recipes that can be made by using Millets. Dr. Arun Gupta said that the doctors from AYUSH are at the frontline and we are here to serve people better. He also said that AYUSH medicines come under the category of experienced medicine and are time tested, cost effective, and have no side effects. Stressing that the relevance of AYUSH has become more now, Dr. Gagandeep said that AYUSH medicines are widely used as a standalone option and as an adjunct with bio medicine in the long term diseases. Dr. Gagandeep gave a presentation on “PCOD and PCOS Management with Ayurveda “. Dr. Arun Gupta presented a PPT on “Millets and Health benefits of millets in disease prevention” and displayed various types of Millets like Cheena, Kodra, Kungani, Madhulika, Jowar, Sawaan etc. An exhibition of Ayurvedic products was also displayed in the college premises. Students were also given products from the department of AYUSH. Prof. Aekta Gupta, Principal, GCOE appreciated the efforts of the college team to conduct such events that are helpful in the long run During the program a book on “Health & Wellness” authored by Dr.Vinod K Bakshi and Prof. Ramnadeep Kralia of Govt. College of Education, Jammu was released by the dignitaries. Prof. Anju Bala (B.Ed Co-ordinator), Dr. Rajinder Kour (M.Ed Co-ordinator), Dr. Shubhra Jamwal (NSS PO), Dr. Shalini Rana (Convenor, IQAC), Prof.Seema Kotwal, Prof. Radhika Mahajan, Dr. Deep Kumar Bangotra, Prof. Shapia Shameem, Prof. Sarita Dogra, Prof. Satish K. Sharma, Prof. Neeraj Verma, Prof. Seema Kumari, Prof. Vinay Lata, Prof. Anuradha Chowdhary, Prof. Shamboo Nath, Dr. Sushma Bala and other faculty members were present on the occasion. The event ended with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Seema Kumari.
