OCT 24:Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, today chaired a high-level meeting to review the arrangements for the 2nd Edition of the Kashmir Marathon, scheduled to take place on November 2, 2025. The meeting was attended by senior officers from civil administration, police, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Health Department, and other concerned agencies.
During the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner emphasized on ensuring seamless arrangements and a well-coordinated approach among all departments for the successful conduct of the marathon. He instructed the concerned authorities to take up route beautification measures, including placement of potted plants, banners, and cleanliness drives along the entire stretch of the marathon route to give it an aesthetic appeal.
To ensure the comfort and safety of participants, Garg directed the deployment of aid and refreshment stations at regular intervals, availability of medical support teams and ambulances, and adequate security arrangements throughout the event. He also emphasized on maintaining real-time coordination through a Command & Control Centre, which will monitor various aspects of the marathon, including participant movement, crowd management, and emergency response.
The Divisional Commissioner further called for proper traffic management plans, ensuring minimal inconvenience to the general public. He directed the concerned officers to identify designated parking spaces, arrange public address systems, and ensure timely dissemination of route and event information to the public.
Highlighting the growing enthusiasm for the event, Garg said the Kashmir Marathon is not just a sporting event but also an opportunity to promote fitness, tourism, and the natural beauty of the Valley. He urged all stakeholders to work in close synergy to make the 2nd edition of the Kashmir Marathon a grand success and a symbol of Kashmir’s spirit, unity, and resilience.
