OCT 24:The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly’s Autumn Session commenced on a solemn note today, with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah leading obituary references to pay homage to former Governor Satya Pal Malik, several former ministers, and ex-legislators who passed away recently.
In his heartfelt address, the Chief Minister recalled the significant contributions and public service of the departed leaders, emphasizing that their efforts and dedication have left a lasting imprint on Jammu and Kashmir’s political and social landscape. Omar Abdullah said that remembering such personalities is not merely a formality but a moment of collective reflection on their achievements, values, and impact on governance and society.
While extending condolences to the bereaved families, the Chief Minister proposed that the Assembly consider adopting a concise and dignified parliamentary format for future obituary references. “Each of these leaders contributed in their own way to the democratic and developmental journey of Jammu and Kashmir. Their service must continue to inspire us to work selflessly for the welfare of the people,” Omar Abdullah said.
