4 June: A delegation of the BJP Kisan Morcha in Jammu and Kashmir highlighted several challenges faced by farmers in Rajouri, with particular emphasis on delays in the supply of quality seeds during the ongoing agricultural season.
Addressing a press conference in Potha village, leaders of the farmers’ wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party called for immediate intervention by the concerned authorities to address issues affecting agricultural productivity and farmer welfare.
Among those present was Rakesh Raina, who stressed the importance of ensuring timely availability of quality seeds to farmers. He said delays in seed distribution can adversely affect sowing schedules and ultimately impact crop yields and farm incomes.
Raina urged the concerned departments to take prompt corrective measures and ensure that eligible farmers receive the benefits and agricultural inputs intended for them without unnecessary delays.
He noted that agriculture remains the primary source of livelihood for a large section of the population in Rajouri and other rural areas of Jammu and Kashmir. Any disruption in the timely supply of seeds and farming inputs can create difficulties for cultivators who depend on seasonal agricultural activities for their income.
The BJP Kisan Morcha also highlighted the need for improved coordination between agricultural agencies and farmers to ensure that government schemes and support programmes reach beneficiaries effectively.
Participants at the press conference discussed various issues affecting the farming community, including access to quality agricultural inputs, crop planning, and the timely implementation of farmer-centric welfare initiatives.
Farmer representatives emphasized that the availability of certified and quality seeds is essential for achieving better crop productivity and supporting agricultural growth. They expressed concern that delays in distribution may force some farmers to alter their cultivation plans or rely on alternative sources of seeds.
Agriculture experts often point out that timely access to quality seeds is one of the most important factors influencing crop performance. Proper planning and efficient distribution systems help farmers maximize production and reduce uncertainties during the sowing season.
The BJP Kisan Morcha leaders called upon the administration to strengthen monitoring mechanisms and address logistical challenges that may be affecting seed supply chains in rural areas.
They also stressed the importance of maintaining regular communication with farmers to understand ground-level concerns and provide timely solutions.
The press conference concluded with an appeal to the authorities to prioritize agricultural issues and ensure that farmers receive the support required for a successful cultivation season.
Observers note that addressing such concerns promptly can contribute to improved agricultural outcomes, rural development, and greater confidence among the farming community.
