JULY 23: The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), under the Ministry of Ayush, has unveiled the second edition of its flagship CCRAS-PRAYATNA – Scientific Writing Workshop. This initiative is designed to equip Ayurveda postgraduate, Ph.D., and post-doctoral scholars with advanced skills in scientific writing, manuscript preparation, and publication in international journals.
Highlighting the significance of the program, Prof. Rabinarayan Acharya, Director General of CCRAS, stated, “The CCRAS-PRAYATNA initiative underscores our dedication to fostering a strong research culture in Ayurveda. By offering structured mentorship, hands-on training, and expert guidance, we aim to empower young researchers to communicate their findings effectively in accordance with global publishing standards. The success of the first edition validates the importance of this initiative, and we are confident that the upcoming workshops will further enhance the global impact of Ayurveda research.”
Launched in August 2024, the PRAYATNA workshop series represents a pioneering approach to bridging the gap between traditional Ayurveda research and modern scientific publishing standards. The initiative integrates expert mentorship, practical exercises, and peer-reviewed feedback, enabling scholars to transform their academic work into high-quality, publishable manuscripts.
The second edition of the workshop, scheduled for 2025-26, will be hosted at selected institutions across India through a national Expression of Interest (EOI) process. Interested Ayurveda institutions can submit their proposals to ccrasprayatna[at]gmail[dot]com by August 15, 2025. The workshop will feature a multi-stage structure that includes sensitization webinars, article review sessions, and an immersive residential manuscript development program, ensuring an outcome-driven learning experience.
The inaugural workshop held at Shri BMK KLE Ayurveda College, Belagavi, yielded significant results, with several manuscripts being prepared and submitted to renowned journals. Building on this success, CCRAS aims to expand the reach of PRAYATNA and elevate the quality of Ayurveda research publications.
As part of its broader mission to advance evidence-based Ayurveda, CCRAS publishes esteemed journals such as the Journal of Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (JRAS), Journal of Drug Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (JDRAS), and Journal of Indian Medical Heritage (JIMH). Additionally, CCRAS runs multiple programs like SPARK (for undergraduates), PG-STAR (for postgraduates), AGNI (for physicians), SMART (for teachers), and ARMS, which focus on research methodology and statistical training.
By continuing initiatives like PRAYATNA, CCRAS is strengthening academic capacity, improving scientific manuscript quality, and ensuring Ayurveda research gains global visibility and credibility.
