MAY 05: In a meaningful initiative to strengthen communal harmony and address developmental priorities, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, and Senior Superintendent of Police, Gaurav Sikarwar, convened a key meeting with members of civil society, political representatives, religious and social organizations, and other respected citizens of the district.
The meeting was organized in the backdrop of the tragic Pahalgam terror attack, and began with a solemn two-minute silence to pay tribute to the victims. The gathering served as a platform to encourage open dialogue, mutual understanding, and a shared commitment to preserving peace and unity in the district.
DC Abhishek Sharma praised the people of Rajouri for their collective condemnation of the incident and for extending support to tourists who had temporarily halted in the district due to the attack. He highlighted the generosity and compassion shown by the residents, calling it a true reflection of the district’s inclusive and resilient character.
“The solidarity and hospitality shown by the people during a time of distress speak volumes about Rajouri’s spirit,” said the DC. He assured continued support from the administration in maintaining communal amity and pushing forward with inclusive development initiatives.
SSP Gaurav Sikarwar reaffirmed the police’s dedication to maintaining law and order and appealed for continued cooperation from community members. He emphasized that preventing any attempts to disrupt communal peace requires collective vigilance and unity.
“Peace is everyone’s responsibility, and together we can ensure Rajouri remains a beacon of unity,” he added.
Several citizens present at the meeting provided constructive feedback and shared suggestions on enhancing community engagement, promoting interfaith dialogue, and addressing local developmental issues.
Senior officials including Additional District Development Commissioner Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa, Additional Deputy Commissioner Chander Prakash, and other dignitaries also participated, underscoring the administration’s commitment to public welfare and social harmony.
The district administration reiterated its resolve to protect the communal fabric, promote citizen-friendly governance, and advance development with peace as the cornerstone.
