In a significant push towards inclusive development, the Chief Minister today laid e-foundation stones and e-inaugurated multiple key development projects worth over ₹37 crore in District Srinagar. The projects span crucial sectors including social welfare, healthcare, urban connectivity and livelihoods, reinforcing the government’s commitment to people-centric governance.
Among the major initiatives inaugurated was the upgradation of Abhedananda Home, a vital institution catering to children with special needs. The upgraded facilities are expected to provide a safer, more supportive and enabling environment for children, ensuring better care, rehabilitation and overall development.
Bridges Over Maloori Nallah to Improve Connectivity
The Chief Minister also inaugurated projects for the construction of important bridges over Maloori Nallah, a long-standing demand of residents in the area. These bridges will significantly enhance local connectivity, ease daily commuting, and improve access to essential services for surrounding localities.
Officials said that improved infrastructure across the nallah will reduce travel time, ensure safer movement, and contribute to smoother urban mobility within Srinagar.
Boost to Healthcare Infrastructure at GMC Srinagar
Another major highlight of the development package was the expansion of academic and clinical infrastructure at Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar. The upgraded facilities are aimed at strengthening medical education, enhancing patient care services, and addressing the growing healthcare needs of the region.
With these additions, GMC Srinagar is expected to improve its capacity for advanced treatment, research and training, benefitting patients as well as medical students from across Jammu and Kashmir.
Fleece Testing Laboratory at Zakura to Support Livelihoods
In a move to support rural livelihoods and the animal husbandry sector, the Chief Minister also e-inaugurated the Fleece Testing Laboratory at Zakura. The laboratory will play a key role in improving the quality assessment of wool, supporting sheep farmers and promoting value addition in the wool sector.
Experts believe the facility will help local producers access better markets, ensure fair pricing and strengthen the region’s traditional livelihood base.
Holistic Development Focus
Addressing the occasion, the Chief Minister reiterated that the government remains focused on balanced and inclusive development, ensuring that infrastructure growth directly translates into improved quality of life for citizens. He emphasized that digital platforms such as e-inaugurations are enabling faster execution of projects and greater transparency.
Officials present during the event noted that the ₹37 crore worth of projects reflect a multi-sectoral approach, addressing the needs of vulnerable groups, strengthening public institutions, improving urban infrastructure and creating livelihood opportunities.
