OCT 04:In view of the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) forecast predicting heavy rain and snowfall across several parts of the region from October 5 to 7, the Chief Minister today chaired a high-level meeting to assess preparedness and ensure proactive response measures.

The Chief Minister directed all departments, particularly those related to power, water, road connectivity, disaster management, and agriculture, to remain in a state of heightened readiness to deal with any eventuality arising from the anticipated weather disturbance. He emphasized the need for coordinated inter-departmental action to safeguard lives, crops, orchards, and public infrastructure while ensuring that essential services and major roads remain functional even under adverse conditions.

Highlighting the importance of communication and timely information dissemination, the Chief Minister instructed concerned officials to issue weather-related advisories and safety guidelines well in advance, especially for farmers and orchardists, to help them minimize potential losses. He also directed prompt restoration of electricity, water supply, and road connectivity in case of disruptions caused by heavy precipitation or landslides.

Appealing to the general public to exercise caution, the Chief Minister advised people to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly to higher reaches and snow-prone areas during the forecast period. He urged citizens to stay updated with official advisories and cooperate with local administration to ensure safety.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the safety of the people remains the Government’s top priority and assured that all necessary resources, including disaster response teams, machinery, and emergency control rooms, have been mobilized to tackle any situation effectively. Departments were instructed to maintain constant coordination and remain vigilant throughout the forecast duration to respond swiftly to any emergency.
