Jammu, Jammu & Kashmir:
A Counter Insurgency/Counter Terrorism refresher course for personnel of the Jammu and Kashmir Police successfully concluded at the Tiger Division in Jammu, marking a significant step towards strengthening security preparedness in the region.
The course, conducted from April 7 to April 18, 2026, was a joint initiative of the Indian Army and J&K Police. A total of 108 police personnel underwent intensive training designed to enhance their operational capabilities in handling evolving security challenges.
Participants received hands-on training in a wide range of critical areas, including tactical operations, leadership skills, advanced weapon handling, surveillance systems, and counter-drone measures. The programme also covered intelligence sharing, first aid, and casualty evacuation techniques to ensure comprehensive preparedness during field operations.
Officials stated that the refresher course was aimed at updating personnel with the latest strategies and technologies used in counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations. Emphasis was placed on real-time coordination and effective response mechanisms.
The joint training exercise further strengthened synergy between the Army and police forces, enabling better coordination during operations in sensitive areas. Experts highlighted that such collaborative initiatives are crucial for maintaining peace and security in Jammu & Kashmir.
Participants expressed that the training significantly enhanced their skills and confidence, equipping them to deal with complex security scenarios more effectively.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to continuing such capacity-building programmes in the future to ensure that security forces remain well-prepared to tackle emerging threats.
The successful completion of the course reflects ongoing efforts to boost operational efficiency, inter-agency coordination, and readiness across security forces in the Union Territory.
