Rajesh Sharma Visits Parisha, One Stop Centre to Review Women-Centric Services in Kathua

Kathua, March 03: As part of the ongoing Women Week campaign, Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rajesh Sharma, on Monday visited Parisha and the One Stop Centre to assess their functioning and review the range of services being provided to women across the district.

The visit was aimed at strengthening women-centric support systems and ensuring timely assistance to beneficiaries under various welfare schemes implemented by the Social Welfare Department, Jammu and Kashmir.

Review of Facilities at Parisha

During his visit to Parisha, the Deputy Commissioner took stock of the facilities available and evaluated the support services being extended to women beneficiaries. He interacted with the staff and enquired about the mechanism in place to address grievances, particularly those involving women in distress.

The DC emphasised the importance of prompt response and confidentiality in handling sensitive cases. He directed the staff to adopt a compassionate and professional approach while dealing with women seeking assistance.

Officials briefed him on the type of cases received and the procedure followed to provide counselling, protection and referral support where required.

Inspection of One Stop Centre

Inspecting the One Stop Centre, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the assistance and interventions being provided under various women’s welfare schemes. He examined records related to cases handled by the centre, including details of counselling services, legal aid support, medical assistance and referral mechanisms.

The DC highlighted the need for coordinated efforts to ensure that affected women receive comprehensive support under one roof. He instructed officers to maintain proper documentation and streamline follow-up procedures to enhance service delivery.

The One Stop Centre plays a vital role in providing integrated support and protection services to women facing violence or other forms of distress. The DC underlined that such centres must function with efficiency and empathy to build trust among beneficiaries.

Emphasis on Awareness and Outreach

During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers to intensify awareness campaigns so that more women are informed about the services available at Parisha and the One Stop Centre.

He stressed that maximum outreach is essential to ensure that women from remote and rural areas can access these facilities without hesitation. The DC also called for improved coordination between field functionaries and district-level offices to strengthen the overall support system.

The visit reflects the district administration’s commitment to empowering women and safeguarding their rights through accessible and responsive welfare mechanisms.

Chief Planning Officer Ranjeet Thakur and District Social Welfare Officer Varun Chaudhary accompanied the Deputy Commissioner during the inspection.

The review concluded with directions to further enhance service standards and ensure that women-centric initiatives in Kathua district are implemented effectively and sensitively.
