AUG 05: A delegation from the Government Employees National Confederation (GENC) met Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology; Earth Sciences; and MoS for PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space, to discuss a wide range of service-related matters concerning Central Government employees.

The delegation acknowledged the government’s proactive approach under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, especially praising the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) for effectively clearing the promotion backlog across services—boosting morale and streamlining career progression.

Key topics discussed included the 8th Pay Commission, reforms in the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS), cadre-related concerns, and policy clarity on Uniform Pay Structure (UPS). The GENC delegation emphasized the importance of systemic reforms, employee welfare, and timely grievance redressal through strengthened institutional mechanisms.

GENC members, representing sectors such as defence production, postal services, autonomous bodies, and the central secretariat, highlighted the need for inclusive consultation and expressed appreciation for the regular access to dialogue offered by the Minister. They thanked Dr. Jitendra Singh for his consistent engagement and openness to employee concerns.

Although no official statement was released post-meeting, sources familiar with the discussion described it as a constructive interaction focused on strengthening employee policy frameworks and reflecting the government’s commitment to consultative governance.

The meeting is considered timely, given the upcoming administrative reviews, and is seen as a signal of the government’s continued responsiveness to the needs of its workforce.
