May 15: During his visit to the forward areas of Rajouri district, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary emphasized the government’s steadfast commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of residents living along the Line of Control (LoC).

Speaking with local communities and security personnel, Choudhary stated, “The safety of every citizen is our top priority.” He assured that all necessary measures are being implemented to protect civilians from cross-border threats, particularly in the wake of recent shelling incidents.

The Deputy CM announced the expedited construction of underground bunkers and reinforced shelters in vulnerable areas. These will serve as vital protective infrastructure during periods of heightened tension. He also directed district officials to ensure swift redressal of grievances and efficient coordination with disaster response teams.

The visit reflects the government’s proactive approach in strengthening border security and enhancing civil defence preparedness. Choudhary also emphasized closer engagement with local stakeholders and directed the administration to streamline communication channels for timely response to any future contingencies.

Residents expressed concerns regarding the safety of school-going children, livestock, and access to healthcare during conflict periods. The Deputy CM assured that these issues would be prioritised, and integrated support systems would be put in place for all affected families.

The government aims to ensure not just immediate safety but long-term resilience for LoC villages through infrastructure development, community engagement, and inter-agency coordination.
