Feb 1: As part of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative, Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh, today flagged off an educational tour for students from Doda district to Jammu, aimed at broadening their academic exposure and inspiring them through experiential learning.
The educational tour has been organised to provide students, particularly girl students, an opportunity to visit important educational, administrative and national institutions in Jammu. The initiative seeks to strengthen awareness, confidence and aspirations among young learners by exposing them to diverse learning environments beyond their district.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh emphasised that such exposure visits play a crucial role in shaping students’ perspectives. He encouraged the students to make the most of the tour by actively observing, learning and interacting during their visits. He highlighted that education combined with exposure helps build informed, confident and responsible citizens.
The tour has been organised under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao programme, a flagship initiative of the Government of India focused on promoting girls’ education, empowerment and gender equality. The programme aims not only to improve enrolment and retention of girls in schools but also to provide platforms that nurture their overall development.
Officials from the District Administration Doda stated that the tour will include visits to prominent educational institutions and places of national importance in Jammu, offering students insights into academic opportunities, governance systems and career possibilities. Such tours are designed to motivate students, especially from remote and hilly areas, to aim higher in their educational pursuits.
The students expressed excitement and enthusiasm as they embarked on the journey, viewing it as a valuable learning experience. Teachers and accompanying officials noted that exposure tours significantly enhance students’ understanding, curiosity and self-confidence.
The district administration reaffirmed its commitment to implementing people-centric and student-focused initiatives under BBBP and other welfare programmes. It added that similar educational and awareness programmes will continue to be organised to support holistic development and empower young minds across Doda district.
The flag-off ceremony marked another step towards strengthening educational outreach and ensuring equal opportunities for students, in line with the vision of inclusive and empowered development.
