SEP 04: In a compassionate humanitarian gesture, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) has launched a major relief initiative under the guidance of its Chairman and Lt. Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, to support families severely affected by incessant rainfall and landslides in Katra and adjoining areas of Reasi and Udhampur districts.

To provide immediate assistance, relief supplies for around 400 families were initially handed over to the District Administration, Reasi. The distributed kits include dry ration, utensils, blankets, medicines, buckets, tarpaulins, and tents, ensuring that the most urgent requirements of the affected families are addressed promptly.

Responding to the request of the District Administration, the Shrine Board also arranged temporary accommodation for the families of village Purana Daroor—whose homes were extensively damaged—by shifting them to Shakti Bhawan, Niharika Complex in Katra. This move is aimed at safeguarding their well-being and ensuring they have a safe shelter during this difficult period.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Chief Executive Officer of SMVDSB, reaffirmed the Shrine Board’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of the local community. He emphasized that the Board, in close coordination with the District Administration, will continue extending all necessary support to ensure the safety, security, and rehabilitation of affected families.

The Shrine Board has a history of extending such humanitarian support during crises, including its substantial contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic and in earlier natural calamities. Its latest relief operation once again reflects its deep sense of responsibility towards society and its role as a pillar of support during emergencies.

The initiative is not only a timely relief effort but also a reassuring gesture for the people of the region, reaffirming that in times of adversity, the Shrine Board stands firmly with the community to ease their hardships and help them rebuild their lives.
