25 April: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a dual weather alert for Rajasthan, warning of heatwave conditions in some regions and rainfall in others, highlighting the state’s diverse and rapidly changing weather pattern.
According to the IMD, several districts, particularly in western Rajasthan, are likely to experience intense heatwave conditions, with temperatures expected to rise significantly above normal levels. Residents in these areas have been advised to take precautions, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, and stay hydrated.
At the same time, parts of eastern and southeastern Rajasthan are expected to witness light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds. The contrasting weather conditions are attributed to shifting atmospheric systems influencing different regions of the state.
The IMD has cautioned that heatwave conditions can pose serious health risks, especially for vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing medical conditions. People are advised to follow safety guidelines, including wearing light clothing and limiting outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours.
In areas likely to receive rainfall, authorities have warned of possible waterlogging, sudden weather changes, and localized disruptions. Farmers and residents have been advised to remain alert and take necessary measures to safeguard crops and property.
Officials noted that such dual weather patterns are not uncommon during transitional seasons, but they require heightened preparedness and awareness to minimize risks. Local administrations have been asked to stay vigilant and ensure timely dissemination of weather updates.
The IMD continues to monitor the situation closely and has urged the public to rely on official forecasts for accurate information. Emergency services and disaster response teams have also been put on alert in case of any adverse developments.
The dual alert underscores the need for residents to stay informed and cautious as Rajasthan experiences a mix of extreme heat and sudden rainfall in different regions.
