23 July: NEW DELHI: India has successfully exported 12.5 tonnes of premium Dashehari and Langra mangoes to Dubai through the sea route, marking another significant milestone in the country’s efforts to expand agricultural exports and provide better market opportunities for farmers.
The consignment was shipped using sea freight, a cost-effective and sustainable mode of transportation compared to air cargo. Officials said the successful export demonstrates India’s growing capability to deliver high-quality fresh produce to international markets while maintaining quality standards during transit.
The initiative is expected to benefit mango growers by offering improved access to overseas markets and helping them secure better prices for their produce. By reducing transportation costs, sea shipments can enhance exporters’ competitiveness and increase farmers’ income over the long term.
Dashehari and Langra are among India’s most popular mango varieties, known for their rich flavour, aroma, and premium quality. Both varieties enjoy strong demand in international markets, particularly in the Gulf region, where Indian mangoes have built a loyal consumer base.

The Gulf region remains one of the largest international markets for Indian fruits, with Dubai serving as an important distribution hub for agricultural products.
