JULU 01: In a proactive move to strengthen the healthcare system in Jammu & Kashmir, Minister Sakeena Itoo conducted an extensive visit to SKIMS Soura and the Super Speciality Hospital (SSH) Srinagar. Her visit aimed to assess on-ground medical services and directly engage with patients and hospital staff to gather feedback on existing facilities.

During the inspection, Minister Itoo toured critical departments including Cardiology, Oncology, and Critical Care, where she closely reviewed the availability of equipment, functionality of services, and patient care mechanisms. She interacted with patients and their attendants, listening to their experiences and concerns with empathy and a patient-first approach.

The Minister stressed the importance of timely treatment, streamlined procedures, and ensuring that hospitals operate with a patient-centric mindset. She directed the hospital administrations to maintain high standards of hygiene, emergency preparedness, and professional accountability to ensure that no patient is left unattended or delayed in receiving care.

Highlighting the government’s resolve to improve healthcare accessibility, especially in remote and rural areas, Minister Itoo reaffirmed that health infrastructure development remains a top priority for the administration. She added that the government is working on deploying additional resources, medical staff, and digital solutions to enhance efficiency across health centers in the Union Territory.

“I am here not just as a Minister but as a public servant committed to ensuring that every citizen receives the healthcare they deserve,” she said during her interaction with patients.

Minister Itoo appreciated the dedication of doctors, nurses, and support staff at both hospitals while urging them to continue their service with compassion and integrity. She assured that necessary improvements and support from the government would be provided wherever required.

This visit marks another step in the ongoing efforts of the Jammu & Kashmir administration to make quality healthcare services more inclusive, affordable, and patient-friendly across the region.
