May 23: JKBOSE Brings Back November Exam Session for Kashmir, Ladakh, and Winter Zone Jammu Students
In a significant move aligning education with regional needs, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has announced the reinstatement of the November examination session for Classes 10 and 12 in the Kashmir Valley, winter zone areas of Jammu Division, and the Union Territory of Ladakh. This change will be implemented starting from the academic year 2024–25.
According to the fresh directive issued by JKBOSE, the academic calendar for the Kashmir Division and winter zone regions of Jammu and Ladakh will now run from March to November. Consequently, the Annual Regular Examinations for Classes 9 through 12 will take place in October and November 2025. This decision replaces the previous notification from September 2022 and aligns with the latest government directive dated November 6, 2024.
For students in the summer zone of Jammu Division, the academic session has been designated as 2025–26, with their final examinations for Classes 9 to 12 scheduled for March–April 2026.
This calendar revision comes as a response to the climatic and geographical challenges faced by students in the colder regions of Jammu and Kashmir. By resuming the traditional November session, the board aims to ease weather-related academic disruptions and offer students a more favorable timeline for learning and assessment.
The move has been welcomed by educators and parents, who believe that adapting to seasonal realities will enhance academic performance and student well-being. School authorities and administrative bodies across affected regions have been advised to prepare in accordance with the updated academic structure.
This step reaffirms JKBOSE’s commitment to ensuring an inclusive and region-specific approach to education that caters to the diverse needs of students across Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh.
