NOV 13: Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, chaired a tripartite consultation on the draft Shram Shakti Niti-2025 (National Labour and Employment Policy of India) with representatives of employers’ associations and central trade unions (CTUs) in New Delhi today.

Secretary (Labour & Employment), Ms. Vandana Gurnani, presented an overview of the draft policy, highlighting its vision to build a fair, inclusive, and future-ready labour ecosystem that upholds workers’ dignity while promoting productivity, innovation, and social justice.

Dr. Mandaviya emphasised that the collective goal was to create a robust and equitable policy framework that ensures worker welfare and social protection. He welcomed constructive suggestions from all stakeholders to refine and enrich the draft, reaffirming that the policy would be finalised only after thorough consultation and necessary improvements.

Trade unions and employer associations lauded the Ministry’s efforts in formulating a comprehensive, forward-looking policy aligned with the Constitution, International Labour Organisation (ILO) standards, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). CTUs offered suggestions to strengthen social security, grievance redressal, and employment opportunities, while employers’ bodies shared perspectives on job creation, innovation, and ease of doing business.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to developing a worker-centric, collaborative, and growth-oriented Shram Shakti Niti-2025, envisioned to guide India’s labour governance and employment framework for the coming decade.
