NOV 14:Minister for Forests, Ecology & Environment, Javed Ahmed Rana, has issued firm instructions for stringent action against all illegally operating Stone Crushers, Hot Mix Plants, and Batching Plants functioning within the Jammu Forest Division. The directive comes amid growing concerns over unregulated industrial activity causing significant ecological damage and threatening the fragile environmental balance of Jammu and Kashmir.
During the review, the Minister underscored that the government will maintain zero tolerance toward any form of environmental violation. He stressed that unauthorized units not only disrupt forest ecosystems but also contribute to air, water, and noise pollution, directly impacting public health and wildlife habitats. Rana asserted that safeguarding the environment is a collective responsibility, and no compromise will be allowed when it comes to enforcing the law.
He called upon forest officials, pollution control authorities, district administrations, and enforcement wings to work in complete coordination. According to him, joint action is essential to identify, inspect, and immediately shut down units operating without valid permissions or violating existing environmental guidelines. The Minister particularly emphasized the need for regular monitoring drives, strict inspections, and swift penalties to deter further violations.
Rana also highlighted the importance of sustainable development practices, noting that industrial growth must align with ecological protection. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that development activities across the Union Territory comply with environmental norms and contribute positively to long-term ecological stability.
In his remarks, he urged all stakeholders to remain vigilant and proactive, adding that illegal extraction of resources and unregulated commercial activities will not be tolerated under any circumstances. The Minister further stressed that protecting forest wealth is crucial not just for the present generation but for the future of Jammu and Kashmir’s natural heritage.
