NOV 14:Minister for Transport, FCS&CA, Youth Services & Sports, and Information Technology, Satish Sharma, convened a significant meeting with representatives of the Western Bus Union to address a series of long-pending concerns raised by the transport community. The interaction aimed at improving coordination between the administration and transport operators while ensuring that the needs of commuters remain central to decision-making.
During the meeting, Sharma patiently heard the issues presented by the union members, which included operational challenges, policy-related gaps, and demands for better support systems within the transport framework. Acknowledging the importance of the transport sector in maintaining smooth mobility across the region, he issued on-spot directions to the concerned officials for the immediate redressal of the highlighted grievances.
The Minister emphasized that the government is firmly committed to establishing a transparent, efficient, and commuter-friendly transport system in Jammu and Kashmir. He stressed that public transport is the backbone of everyday life for thousands of citizens, and resolving stakeholders’ concerns directly contributes to improved service delivery and passenger satisfaction.
Sharma also underlined the need for continuous engagement with transport unions to ensure timely resolution of issues and to maintain a healthy working relationship between the administration and transport operators. He noted that collaborative efforts are essential for addressing bottlenecks, reducing operational delays, and strengthening the overall mobility network.
