Srinagar, August 15, 2026: Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha hoisted the National Flag at Lok Bhavan on the occasion of India’s 80th Independence Day, calling upon citizens to work collectively towards building a peaceful, prosperous and progressive Jammu & Kashmir.
The Independence Day ceremony was marked by a strong message of gratitude and remembrance as the Lieutenant Governor paid homage to the nation’s founding leaders and the countless brave men and women who sacrificed their lives for the country’s freedom.
Tribute to Those Who Made the Supreme Sacrifice
Addressing the significance of the occasion, Sinha remembered the valiant sons and daughters of the country whose sacrifices laid the foundation for an independent India. He also expressed condolences to civilians who lost their lives in natural calamities during the year.

Gratitude to Security Forces
The Lieutenant Governor extended his greetings and appreciation to the personnel of the Armed Forces, J&K Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and other security agencies.
He acknowledged the courage and dedication of soldiers and police personnel who continue to serve under challenging circumstances, particularly in the fight against terrorism and in protecting the country’s unity and security.
The Independence Day message underlined the debt of gratitude owed to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
