Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday inaugurated a new industrial unit of Eveready Industries India Limited in Samba, marking a significant milestone in the region’s industrial development.

The unit has been established with an investment of ₹200 crore and is expected to play a key role in generating employment opportunities for local youth. Officials stated that the project will also support the growth of ancillary industries and strengthen the industrial ecosystem in the area.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted that such investments are a reflection of the changing economic landscape of Jammu & Kashmir. He noted that industrial growth in the Union Territory is not just about numbers, but about creating opportunities, improving livelihoods, and empowering communities.

The new facility is also expected to promote skill development among the local workforce, with a special focus on creating employment avenues for women. Authorities believe that the initiative will contribute to inclusive growth and help enhance socio-economic conditions in the region.

Industry experts pointed out that the establishment of large-scale manufacturing units like this can act as a catalyst for further investments, attracting more companies to explore opportunities in Jammu & Kashmir.

Local residents and stakeholders have welcomed the move, expressing optimism that it will lead to sustained economic growth and development in Samba and surrounding areas.

The inauguration underscores the administration’s ongoing efforts to position Jammu & Kashmir as an emerging industrial hub, with improved infrastructure, investor-friendly policies, and a focus on long-term economic transformation.
